The Festivals are celebrated with great gusto and zeal in Darbhanga. The Festivals of Darbhanga are extremely colourful and promote unity and feeling of brotherhood.

Chatth Puja in Darbhanga :The people of Darbhanga have immense faith in this festival. It is the main Hindu festival of the state. Chatth Puja is celebrated twice in a year. It is once celebrated in Chaitra (March) and second in Kartik (November). This festival is dedicated to the Surya Shashti, the Sun God.

Makar Sankranti in Darbhanga :Another beautiful festival of Darbhanga, Makar Sankranti is celebrated with great rejoice. The festival signifies the beginning of the summer season and is also known as “Tila Sankranti”. It is a major harvest festival celebrated in various parts of India. Apart from a harvest, this festival is also regarded as the beginning of an auspicious phase in Indian culture.

Dussehrra:It is another festival that is keenly celebrated in Darbhanga. It generally falls in the month of October or November and marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon Ravana. It is marked as the victory of good over evil.

Holi:The “festival of colours” is indeed celebrated in a very colourful manner in Darbhanga and is one of the biggest festivals for the natives.”  The atmosphere is really charged up during the celebrations.

Ramnavami:Ram Navami is a major Hindu festival celebrated in all parts of the country. The birthday of Lord Rama is celebrated in the Hindi month of Chaitra.
